tert-Butyl hydroperoxide, an organic peroxide, used in different oxidation processes, that is why it’s widely utilized to study the effect of oxidative stress on living cells. This compound helped to determine the mechanism of macrophage apoptosis induced by oxidized low-density lipoproteins. It was found that the apoptosis of macrophages taken place via a mitochondria-mediated signaling pathway.
