Lauroyl sarcosine is an ionic surfactant. Sodium salt of lauroyl sarcosine is widely used in the cosmetic industry in shampoos, body washes, facial washes, foundations, bath soaps, and detergents. Lauroyl sarcosine is used in noncoloring shampoos, bath soaps, and detergents. Besides its use in cosmetic industry, lauroyl sarcosinate is used in adhesives and as an additive in polymers (with a maximal concentration of 0.35% according to the FDA regulations).
