Description

Cetyl ethylhexanoate is an ester of cetyl alcohol and 2-ethylhexanoic acid. Cetyl ethylhexanoate is an odorless, colorless liquid that is insoluble in water, but freely miscible with vegetable, mineral, and synthetic oils and fats. Cetyl ethylhexanoate works as an emollient, skin conditioner and thickening agent. It lubricates the surface of the skin/hair, removes the appearance of dry patches and flakes and gives the skin a soft and smooth look. It gives cosmetic products water-repelling properties and an easy spreadability. Cetyl ethylhexanoate is used in the cosmetic industry as a base oil in the production of a wide variety of cosmetics and personal care products. For example, it can be found in products such as makeup remover, lipstick, foundation, facial moisturizer, anti-aging treatment, lip/eye liner, hair conditioner, and eye shadow.
