STYRYLPYRIDINIUM CHLORIDE is effective in preventing the establishment of Anchylostoma spp., ascarids and Dirofilaria immitis (heartworm) infections in carnivires. Dogs with established heartworm infections should not be treated until they have been converted to a negative status. Administration to heartworm infected dogs may cause adverse reactions due to pulmonary occlusion. Drug was restricted to use in veterinary only. It's not longer used.
